Berlin, Germany, Nov. 1989: A few days after the opening of the Berlin Wall, a determined souvenir-hunter chips away at the hated barrier with a hammer and chisel. Stars and Stripes reporters and photographers were there at the beginning of the end of the so-called communist Eastern-Block. From the mass exodus of East Germans after the Pan-European Picnic to the final tear down of the Berlin Wall, the paper's reporters and photographers covered it, just as they had covered the rise of it back in late 1950s to early 1960s.
